I live next to a farm. They had a collie sheep dog when I moved in three years ago but she was the most miserable unfriendly dog imaginable, growled at anyone who came near, and I now think I know why. They ran her over with a tractor and managed without a dog for a couple of years. Then this April they got another collie pup just a few months old. A gorgeous little girl they called Fly who adored me and my labrador Sammie and loved walking with us when we went past the farm. They put a stop to that. If she came anywhere near us she got yelled at to come back and then she got chained up, for hours on end usually, I used to hear her barking in distress. She spent most of her short life in her kennel or chained up.

Two weeks ago they chained her up to a metal gate and left her all day. She tried to jump over it to get away and strangled to death on the chain on the other side. I can't imagine the fear and pain she went through as she died. She used to come down to my house for some love and affection and beg to be let in but she was stopped from doing that. I have just a few photos of her in my kitchen with my dog Sammie when she was so happy to be with someone who actually cared for her. I miss her terribly. I can't get the thought of how she died out of my mind. I can't sleep.

I just hope they don't get another dog and subject it to the miserable life poor little Fly had to live.
