I remember a few years ago there was an enviroMENTALIST panic over the Harlequin ladybird invasion - they would out-compete/eat all the native ones etc.

I haven't seen a Harlequin for several years now - after the initial surge in numbers, and native numbers seem as strong as ever.

me - one of the little buggers bit me on the arm the other day - it really hurts!

everyone should get some ladybird eggs and grow ladybirds - the larvae are awesome and like tiny crocodiles and have been seriously f**king up the aphids on my sunflowers

I raise you hoverfly larva, some also nosh down on aphids like ladybirds.



The rat-tail maggot of the drone fly hoverfly is even worse!
