Lost our Great Dane last night - happy as larry when we got home, please to see us as usual and messing about with his rugby ball, lets out a small yelp (like someone's trodden on his tail) and keels over, dead before he hit the floor pretty much. cry

Got him at 13 months old from a complete prat in a one bedroom flat in Carshalton - "didn't realise how big he was gonna get, did I?" - Idiot, the clue's in the title.

Been a great dog - a proper ambassador for his breed, loyal, fun, protective, loved a cuddle and was spoiled rotten. We've had a number of rescues over the years and for the breed, he was virtually vet free.

Great fun trying to get 83KG of dead dog through the house and into the car - and even more fun at the vets where myself, the wife (tiny) and the 19 year old girl on reception, who weighed about 5 stone soaking wet, had to get him out of the car and into the back office. £270.00 please.

Anyway - Echo at his best.

Where you would normally find him - as I say, spoiled rotten!

And by pure chance, at an auction for the Mane Chance Horse Sanctuary I bid for an artist (whose name I forget at the moment, sorry) to do the following...

Which arrived on Monday and I was really pleased with.

He would have been eight next Friday.

'Night mate - sleep well and thanks.
