Looking for a bit of advice as I'm concerned our 12 week old puppy has eaten a whole pigs ear in a matter of minutes! We got it for him to chew on rather than the furniture (which he seems to gnaw at quite a lot), but I left him with it for 10 minutes and now it seems to have entirely gone. I was in one room and he kept taking this pigs ear away to the next room to chew on. I could hear him crunching and gnawing on it for a while, and then it all went quiet. When i came through to the kitchen where he'd taken the ear there was nothin g there, it's disappeared! To put I in context he's only a 12week old Sprocker, and the ear was bigger than the palm of my hand. I don't know how he's managed to swallow all that but just concerned it might not workits way through. He seems fine, has been for a poo since then and is currently going through his mad evening phase before he crashes out. I have never had a puppy this small so I'm just unsure as to whether he might yet have a serious problem? I've looked everywhere for the ear but I'm sure he must have eaten it.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Hmmm. I take it it's not that serious then?
To be honest he seems fine I just cannot equate such a small dog wolfing down that amount of hard grisstly pork rind. And my mrs is really annoyed that I let him eat the whole thing. She reckons it could cause a serious blockage.

He definitely ate it - I've looked all over and can't find any trace of it. Anyway, he still seems fine. We've brought him to the pub and he's happily posing for all the other customers.

Ill probably steer clear of that sort of snack for him til he's much more fully grown. With regards to the furniture chewing, it's just the hard wood things he's interested in so hopefully it's just him teething.

He's certainly a handful anyway. 1st time I've had a puppy from 10 weeks old, it's like having a little baby. With sharp snapping teeth. And the ability to run really fast. And an insatiable appetite for shoes, chair legs, and my hands!

Weve got a kong toy, and rope toy, squeaky toys, kong teddy bear. He just rags the s*** out of them all, but I think the kong toy will be good it's just a bit big for his mouth at the moment. I've tried filling it with a mix of dog biscuits and peanut butter. He loves that but it's just too hard for him yet so if he doesn't get any success in the first 5 minutes he loses interest.

Unbelievable how quick he's growing though. Only 2 weeks and he's visibly bigger all round. This is him (eating another daffodil!):

The pigs ear seems to have had no bad effects. I've also discovered he loves the deer antler piece I bought him and he's been working on it for a week now - good value.
