Howdy

Thinking about a few day road trip to the west country, incorporating the Haynes Motor Museum at Sparkford.

Might also take in the odd pretty Market Town, seaside, English Heritage site, curry, beer.

I'm looking for some inspiration? Any suggestions (including cozy pubs with accommodation & real ale/chips) most welcome.

Cheers beerdrink

Wells ticks the pretty town box and this time of year means no tourists! It's also Sandford in Hot Fuzz smile
Thanks, might give that a whirl

I don't know when it's supposed to be completed, but Haynes is currently being extended. Haven't seen the scheme, but it will hopefully be good. Just so you know, the museum as existing is still open. Enjoy it thumbup
Thanks for that. The website does say new section delayed due to unavoidable circumstances.

I too love stuff like that. National Trust can be a bit hit & miss on opening times after 30th September. It does have some opening times though! thumbup

The SS Great Britain in Bristol is well worth a visit. Brunel's revolutionary steamer is very well presented indeed. If you have a poke around there's a rather incongruous old RR Olympus engine stuck in a corner too.

Thanks all, 700 mile road trip complete!

Vehicle of choice:

On the way down stumbled over a building site, looks like it might be nice when finished!

Visited some more old stones;

Was en route to look at Kingsdon Inn, when stumbled over Somerton

Next day Haynes, sublime!!

Even saw this area with no brides!

Was going to look at Tyntesfield, but went south instead

Visited a few other places, stayed at Wimborne, stinky hot curry!

On the way home visited a few mores places

A great trip!!

Did you make it to Kingsdon? Think I saw a car like yours in there one night when I was walking my dog.
I did, but only briefly about 16.00 on the Monday.

Time goes by..a year on! (Just prompted to look here as a result of another thread. Somebody who doesn't want to do a road trip as no-one to talk to. Not a problem I suffer from biggrin)
