Booking the Venetian tomorrow - 10 days in July during which time my other half and I will tie the knot. Can't wait! Anyone been?

Nice one - can anyone advise me with regard to the compulsory resort fee? We're just about to book through BA and it states that the price does not include the above at $25 plus tax per room per night which is payable locally direct to the hotel - is this the same no matter who you book with or where you stay? Any idea of the rate of tax?

Decided to book the Palazzo at the Venetian - awaiting a callback from BA as their systems are down!

Thanks for all the tips so far - having spoken to a few people who have been, we were thinking about £200 per day for 10 days - hopefully this is realistic. We won't really be gambling much - just eating, drinking and visiting attractions/sight-seeing.

Here's hoping Mike!

Just checking out the various food places on You Tube. Can't wait to try a quadruple bypass burger at the Heart Attack Grill lol. The MGM Grand Buffet has to be the biggest I've seen in my life! The restaurant at the Stratosphere looks pretty amazing too!

Nice!

Major - what did you not like about the MGM buffet? I was just going by a you tube video - the choice looked amazing but maybe not the whole story?

Cheers

Martin

Congratulations on the forthcoming wedding!

We had our honeymoon in the Venetian. Loved Vegas and the hotel so much we've been back for our anniversary the last two years, and are hankering to go again this year.

Enjoy!
Thanks - I was saying that to my other half - if we love it, we'll end up revisiting every year! I am keen to try New York one day although she has already been :-)

Confirmation just received from BA - very excited.

Brilliant - thanks. We're adding all this stuff to a Word document which we'll take with us.

My other half wants to know if most people take all their spending money in dollars with them or travellers cheques instead? Personally, I'm fine with carrying the cash with me and using the room safe.

Just been reading about the twenty dollar trick - awesome! Thanks for sharing!

We requested through BA a non-smoking room, high floor with strip view and late check-out but no harm in slipping $20 to secure or maybe even squeeze a little more out of them :-)

Just another thought but is it possible is it to get a free seat upgrade on the plane (British Airways). The reason I ask is that the BA woman who booked our holiday over the phone said she would ask her colleagues to consider a 'seat upgrade' since our holiday will be a wedding/honeymoon. Didn't go into detail so unsure of what this would consist of? Will another $20 cover it? lol - probably not in Glasgow/London! :-)

Thanks everyone - been adding all the above to a word document - my fiancee has started a Las Vegas folder lol

Gambling-wise, I can't see us going beyond the slots tbh - boring I know but other than roulette, I don't really have an interest in gambling - don't mind watching other folk but I'm totally clueless! Maybe I'll win big on the fruit machine! ;-)

Keep them coming folks - all these tips are brilliant!

Yep - keep 'em coming. I'm off to Vegas on Easter Friday so have been copying down the hints and tips in a spreadsheet too.

My plan so far includes; Sky Dive, Shooting, Corvette hire (booked through Hertz - planning on red rock canyon, lake mead, hoover dam), Baseball (I'm a Mets fan and our B team play in Vegas), Food Challenge, Counts Kustoms, Pawn Shop and maybe a show. As per the OP - I'm not too keen a gambler (afraid I'd like it too much!) so will be content experiencing all the rest that Vegas has to offer.
no helicopter trip to the grand canyon?!
Personally, I couldn't sky dive - anything that means almost certain death if it goes wrong is a no no for me lol

Very interested in the corvette though - can I ask how much and what the deal includes?

I booked the car through hertz, it's in their Adrenaline section and is delivered/collected from my hotel:

Payment method: : Pre-Pay Online
1 Day at 97.95 GBP

Included in the rates

Hotel Concession Fee Recovery
Additional Driver Fee
Loss Damage Waiver
Fuel
Tax and other charges
Liability Insurance Supplement
Personal Accident Insurance / Personal Effects Coverage
Vehicle license fee recovery
Transaction Fee
Unlimited Free Miles Included

re Sky Dive - the instructors have a back up chute as well as an automated chute that monitors altitude and speed and if the instructor is injured or knocked out, the chute will auto-deploy... or so they say! Having done half a dozen or so bungy jumps, the sky dive is the next logical step and doing over the desert with a view of the Colorado river, lake Mead and the strip - it seemed like as good a place as any.
Do you have a link - the only Hertz link I can find is to cars which are nice but not to the corvette standard!

Looks like the Vettes are gone now.
Ahh gutted - they still do them but only 100 miles and then a fee thereafter and still much dearer than your quote! Think you got a bargain!

Seriously tempted to rent something when we're away - wouldn't mind an R8 but may well hold off until we're actually there!
