The family and I are off to Gumbet, Turkey for a week next Sunday and I have been given conflicting advice on what currency to take. Some say Turk is Lira is better to get over there, and to take sterling. Some say the opposite!

Where better than Pistonheads to ask?! Thanks in advance.

Interesting. We paid for our visas online. Will we be pinged again at the airport?

Visas are all on-line now, not at airport. We never take cash, just use the ATMs - and assuming you get enough out at a time, that gives us the best rate overall.
That sounds like a good option too. It would make things less complicated.

We go to Turkey most years, sometimes twice, and we always use the ATMs. If you have to take cash, the Post Office (yellow sign, PTT letters in blue) typically give the best exchange rate.
Well, I think the debit card option with a little emergency cash in reserve sounds like the best way forward. Thanks for your advice.
