Not sure if this should go in here or all creatures great and small?

Anyway I'm in Spain at the moment and it was our anniversary yesterday, the Mrs said that she would get me something whilst we're here.

We're near to Alicante so I thought bullfight, I've never been before but really fancy going.

Has anybody ever been and what was it like?

Cheers!

Because legal, traditional, or whatever, it is still fking barbaric and I can't see how any civilised person could support such an activity.

OP why not do a bit of dog fighting or cock fighting while you are there , you seem to be the vile type of "person" who would like that sort of st

I'm sure there must be some dog-strangling, wife-beating, child-torturing or other great 'spectacles' you could pay to go and watch if there are no bullfights on. If not why not just pay a homeless person to stick knives into another homeless person until he dies?
What a warped mind you have.

I think Disasterous' latest post should rely to your ovaries also!
He's sick, what kind of disgusting creature can even think up stuff like that?

To be honest, ManFromDelmonte (he say no!) has crossed the line here. I don't have a glib comeback for that sort of darkness. Here I am, posting from my phone midway through an enjoyable day badger-baiting and hare-coursing with some close friends and delmonte's sick depravity has ruined it for me. I can scarcely maintain my erection.

It is clearly a troll / popcorn post. But let's play ball.

Weakening a bull physically / psychologically for days on end (as they do), and then torturing it to death in minutes (as they do), for entertainment, is not the sign of a healthy mind.

Enjoying torturing animals for fun is what some serial killers do.

Thankfully, bullfighting is fading in popularity worldwide. Only the old and poor tend to like it these days.
Well I'm neither old nor poor but do take in the Spanish culture as part of my life, I am tempted to see one before it disappears for good.

Surely the OP can come with a better cover-story for dressing up bloodlust as "culture", "research" or "experience" wink
Research? I didn't mention research, what are you on about?

Just like bear baiting, dog fighting and stoning women to death is part of the culture in other countries, that makes it okay to go along and encourage it by spectating????

Bull fighting is a disgraceful abomination and I find it impossible to believe it is still allowed in a so-called civilized EU country!

Those clowns in Brussels are doing their best to regulate everything else in Europe, from curved bananas to car modifications, but they don't seem to be bothered about animal cruelty.

Rant over.
Nicely put, sums up what any normal person thinks.

Except where experiencing something enables that something to continue in the future. Which if you buy bullfighting tickets you are doing so.

OP - if you visit Portugal they have bullfighting but without killing the bulls (well not out front anyway).
Where the hell is the fun in that?

Well, if the object of the exercise was to:

1. Hook the fish
2. Cut its fins off
3. Put it back into a small pond
4. Arrange for some 12-year-olds to then stab it until it bleeds a lot
5. Put it on a hot rock where it slowly cooks to death

Then - yes.

A big angry bovine being attacked by men in silly costumes.

Still it is better than that village which used to throw a donkey from a tower.

They should barbeque the deceased and share the meat with the crowd, regardless of whether it is matador or bull.
Yum yum, bulls bits or man sandwiches, that would add a bit of spice to the proceedings.
When the Mrs lived in Malaga years ago I went to visit her, on a walk past the bullring one morning we were treated to a foul stench and what seemed like tar on the floor, they'd actually cut the bull up and put it in the wheelie bins, the give away was the huge tail hanging out of one of the bins, a barbecue would have been less of a waste.

The tar was blood BTW wink

But I am quite sure that you make every possibly effort to ensure a clean kill. Not attempting birds that are too high, using the correct load etc. I am also sure that the pheasants are then eaten.

Shooting and bullfighting are both blood-sports but are nowhere near the same level of barbarity. Everyone has their own line to draw but I would have hoped most right-minded people would draw that line a long way before supporting bullfighting.
