Hey all,

Me and the boys are planning a holiday next year, probably around March time, and we're struggling for ideas. We went to Cancun, Mexico for Spring break this year and it was great, but fancy something different in 2015. We will be in our early 20s next year (over 21) and have a budget of around £2k each for a 7-10 day holiday. That includes flights, accommodation, spending money, everything!

Key criteria is that there must be a great party scene and a good young crowd around the same age as us. This isn't going to be a 'cultural' holiday - it's a blow off some steam holiday. We don't mind travelling, but not interested in South East Asia as we've done that before.

Suggestions welcome!

Cheers!

Oh yeah, thanks that's a good suggestion but we've already done TYW! Was great fun, but we thought very expensive for what it was and full of hidden expenses!

Not a bad shout, but will we be out of season if we go in March? We've been before in June and I think that was the beginning of the season, and it wasn't exactly hopping (Space was half empty when we went).

For skiing? Or is there stuff to do out of the ski season? My friend just finished a season out there and said it was great!

I was intending to do TYW next year. What sort of hidden expenses am I letting myself in for?
Food for you - Don't kid yourself (like we did) that you'll be cooking anything in that stty boat kitchen - when you're hungover and hungry, you're going to be eating out.

Skipper food - This is a big one, although in fairness they do tell you that you're responsbile for the skipper's food. It adds up, especially if you're on a mixed boat like we were - the guys paid for all the skipper's stuff. The skipper will also probably want booze.

Booze - really expensive as all the tiny port towns now TYW is coming and jack up the prices, and there's nowhere else to go. Don't think that because you're going to Croatia that's it's cheap - it ain't. Try and bring as much as you can with you.

Water taxis - at a couple of the ports you have to pay for a water taxi to take you into port or else you're stuck out on your boat all evening while everyone else is having dinner on the island.

Taxis to parties - especially the one on the hilltop fort (which is sick). You'd expect TYW to put on a couple of coaches to take people up there, but no - either a taxi or a 40 minute walk from port.

Drinks at parties - this isn't hidden but nothing is included as part of TYW - you buy your party wristband, which gets you entry, and that's it. The cheapest way to do it is to buy a bottle of vodka or whatever between the boat which means you get a table and don't have to queue etc etc.

Boat fuel - don't pretend you're going to sail the boat everyday. You'll be hungover, you'll just want to turn the engine on and cruise.

Port fees - if you want to dock in port, they charge you for that too.

It is really fun - just be aware that if you want to really let loose (as you probably intend to do since it's a party holiday) it can add up to a lot. I think I spent 2k all in which is a lot considering you're on a tiny, stty boat for a week - and I didn't feel like I went hammer and tong. I went on a gulet in Turkey last year which included all meals prepared by a chef on the boat (and they were delicious), a huge boat with 12 sunlounging cushions up front (one for each person), a bathroom for each of the six bedrooms, and no hidden costs.

I know TYW has a lot of fanboys but I suspect a lot of these are trying to justify the huge expenditure they forked out for the week.

Everything will be shut in March in terms of nightlife and if you want decent weather you have have to look further away than europe
Okay thanks, as suspected!

Vegas? Miami? Might be abit of a stretch to get everything in your budget though, abit random but Jamaica? Might get an all inclusive deal within budget

Would be abit of a squeeze but if it's nearer the 10 day mark you could do a few days in Mumbai followed by a few more in goa?
Vegas tempted but like you say a bit pricey. Done Miami and thought it was st.

Jamaica is a possibility, anyone know a good place for young people? Also considering Dominican Republic.

Mumbai and Goa sound good to me, but I know for sure at least 2 people who won't want to go.
