I have to come over to the UK for three or four days in the next month or so and need to stay in Manchester.

Can anyone recommend a half decent hotel (doesn't have to be ridiculously posh but also not a dive), within walking distance of a few pubs/restaurants please?

Thanks smile

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

I've decided that staying in the centre of Manchester would probably drive me mental traffic wise, so I've booked into The Village hotel in Ashton. biggrin

Too late now, Tonks. I have to travel into Stalybridge each day and it was recommended by the company I'm visiting, oh well.

There is an all you can eat Chinese on the site - avoid it - the food is vile and it is full of chavs. If you like a curry, there are two excellent restaurant's in Audenshaw, which is five minutes in a taxi. The Indian Plaza and the Pearl are both worth visiting. Manchester is about 20 minutes on a tram or in a taxi. As I said, Ashton is an armpit, but if you do go want a pub that is closer, The Caledonia Hotel on Warrington Street is okay and is about 15 minutes walk from the hotel - my uncle used to be the landlord.
Thanks for the heads up. smile

Yep, flying into Manchester.

It's now looking like I'm going to be very busy whilst I'm there so I'll only be using the Hotel as a place to eat and sleep, no visits to pubs etc.
