South Africa, Ebola and insurance?

We have a two week trip to South Africa booked for early next year. We're going to have to pay for it shortly, but I'm rather concerned that if the virus spreads and the advice is not to go, where this leaves us and the several thousand pounds paid.

I'm guessing travel insurance is more for issues while you are out there rather than ones that stop you going.

The trip is booked through a tour company, I don't know if they bear any responsibility.

Fully intend to ask both, obviously, but thought it worth tapping into the PH collective in case anyone has any advice, suggestions or ideas?
