It is my 40th at the end of the year and the wife and I have just booked flights to Japan (without kids) for 4 nights.

We arrive in Tokyo early on Friday morning and leave first thing on the Tuesday morning.

I want to experience more than just Tokyo so maybe visit Kyoto as well...

Obviously we are limited on time and perfectly understand we won't even scratch the surface but any advice on itineraries/what to do/where to go?
