I've got a couple of days spare in Vegas next month, so I was looking at making the most of it, as it's my first time there...

I'm planning on a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon and a trip to a shooting range, but not sure where is best?

I've found Papillon and Maverick for the helicopter flight - anyone used either of these?

I've found Machine Gun Vegas and Battlefield Vegas for the shooting range - again any experiences with these?

I was wondering about hiring a Mustang (V8, obviously smile), but I've been told that traffic is too busy in LV to even consider it. How long does it take to get to quiet roads?

Anything else that people would recommend?

Thanks

Thanks, that seems to help.

I didn't want to start the which 'Grand Canyon' argument - I'm still undecided on West or South... Anyway, Maverick seems to be well regarded, on many threads.

It's going to be a bit tight squeezing everything in, the other threads have given me quite a few ideas - Fremont (just up the road from the MGM - 5 miles each way wobble), the Stratosphere Tower, Bellagio Fountains, the Auto Collection (RS200 Evo and an XJ220, not far from the hotel smile)...

Um Fremont! Found it not good, attitude abound. Where are you staying?
MGM Grand.

I was planning on a cab to Fremont, then wander back down the strip, hotel to hotel, but that's probably most of a day gone? I guess I can miss Fremont out, if it's not worth it?

Rough plan is - Thursday afternoon, shooting, visit Bellagio fountains (in evening) and maybe the car museum; Friday, helicopter; Saturday, Fremont, Stratosphere Tower, Venetian, etc.

One other thing, some posters in old threads said don't book anything until you're there, as the concierge will get the best deals - is worth waiting, or should I just get things booked now?

I'm now back from Vegas, so here's my thoughts...

The group that I was with had booked Battlefield Vegas, so I did the Black Ops Gamer Experience, with a Glock as an extra. Very good fun, professionally run. I was surprised by how much you feel some guns through the floor when they are fired next to you. But that didn't stop someone in the next lane taking his ear defenders off! A few shells from an automatic shotgun about eight feet from him meant he put them back on very quickly!

I went with Maverick's Dream Catcher Sunset Tour as it covered almost everything I wanted to see - Valley of Fire, Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, Landing in the Grand Canyon and flying over the Strip. The Valley of Fire is incredible, as it the Canyon itself. The Hoover Dam was not as impressive as I expected from the sky and the landing was excessive... We had nearly an hour in the canyon. After 10 minutes, you've had a good look around, so you have some champagne and a 'light snack' (some celery, carrots, a cracker and a few grapes...), then sit there for half an hour! If I was going again, I'd go for a quick flight in and out of the canyon, then fly over the strip.

I would recommend going on the rides on the top of the Stratosphere... but only if you normally wake up thinking you are an onion biggrin Whoever designed them was clearly mad!

Also, if you go to Battlefield Vegas, note that Count's Kustoms (and the free tour) is just over the railway lines behind it. You don't want to get back to the UK and find you missed it rolleyes
