Looking to take the OH somewhere very special for a couple of nights as a mini-moon break (she's pregnant so not looking at going abroad).

So far Bath Priory is winning out but would love some other suggestions if anyone has any.

Thanks!

There are loads, some of which already mentioned. I am sure you will find one to duit
There are!

Thanks to all for the suggestions everyone it's helping a lot.

I had The Priory out front until I saw Gidleigh Park (food is crucial element for us), but the lack of a pool and dedicated spa facilities is a bit annoying as my partner would benefit from these being pregnant (obviously not the hot stuff). No mention of room service either... :/

The Scarlet don't have a suite available for our dates and perhaps a little,.. erm... 'environmental' hehe But it was on my short list...

Another vote for Burgh Island, some amazing rooms, especially the one on stilts over the ocean, absolutely stunning!
From the website it appears they may be trying a bit hard on the art deco style.

Fine line between stylish/kitsch/tasteless - velour bedspreads! eek

Looks like Lucknam Park is out as main restaurant is shut Sun & Mon which would be two of three nights - shame, looks nice.

(They also haven't answered their phone in two days so meh to that)

It is lovely in there but stylish 'vs' kitsch will depend on you liking Art Deco. As a petrol head how can you resist the chance to ride on the sea tractor? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBbJtkBVOi4
I love art deco but more Chrysler Building than avocado bathroom! wink

Sea tractor looks fun!

Magdalen Chapter in Exeter is excellent.

Not sure I would put Bath Spa on this list, I'd say it isn't in the same league as a lot of the others on this list.
Nor I, but I was refering to Bath Priory not the Bath Spa thingy...

Will look at Magdalen thx

Gidleigh Park food wise is a cut above everything mentioned IMHO. Couple of the rooms have jacuzzi and sauna in the room, stayed 20 or so times in the last two years. If you have the money sure they could draft someone in for a treatment in your room.

Bath Priory food is very good and Bath has plenty to do how ever some of the rooms are lacking.

Bovey is a great destination property, food is good but no way comparable to the above.
Clearly a market you know!

Thanks for confirming my thoughts. I think I'm prepared to drop a star on the food in order to get a proper pool. OH can't use Jacuzzi or sauna as pregnant.

Will go for Lansdown suite in the newer building as has come recommended.

What has pretty much sealed it for me was the conversation I had with the staff today which was in stark contrast to some of the others I've spoken to - nothing was too much trouble they were bright and engaging, also happy to tailor their packages to our specific needs.

Service means so much for special occasions.

St Enodoc and Saunton Sands are both very pleasant but can be a PITA to get to in the summer months.
St Enodoc again on the short list but food receives mixed reviews and not sure accomodation quite special enough compared to some mentioned here.

Lovely area though, love Daymer Bay.
