One Night in Bangkok

Hi all,
The wife and I were due to be stopping in Koh Samui for a week on the way back to UK for Christmas.
However, having recently been caught in Bali with the ash cloud for a week longer than expected, we have canned the idea and now only have a 24 hour stop over in Bangkok.
We land early afternoon and fly out at 8pm the next day and are staying at the Banyan Tree. (I believe this is the place where they filmed the awful Hangover 2 movie scene with the roof top restaurant).
My question to the PH massive is... Given we only have 24 hours what would you say are the absolute 'must dos' in Bangkok.
Please note "ping pong ball" is not a recommendation, it is a sporting good.
