Kathmandu to Delhi

I was thinking about heading out the end of year and was looking some of this adventure companies but wasn't overly comfortable with the standard accommodation & would rather not be tied into group travel.

I have travelled a fair bit and arranged my own 'tours' I was just a bit nervous about doing it in the subcontinent.

Does anyone have any experience/advice.

Was going to fly in to Delhi and thought it would be good to do the whole 'Golden Triangle' thing before heading up to Nepal.

How busy/hot is it there over New Year? Is that a wise time travel?

Any other things you'd recommend in Nepal?
