Short period European Cover
Discussion
Going to Zolder TVRCC Trackday in Holland at the end of June
and need european cover for 5 or 6 days (Not Trackday cover)
Previously I have had it included in my classic insurance
but have now moved to newer cars and only have standard insurance
I don't need full breakdown cover for the UK as my bank account already covers me for that at home
Any suggestions welcomed
Cheers

Thanks Grondo
Someone already mentioned them so I am looking whether they will do it
even if you aren't travelling with them
We are doing Hull to Rotterdam and back Zeebrugge to Hull
Cheers

Hi,
I found myself in the same situation and took out a full breakdown policy direct with RAC.
I only ever travel with Eurotunnel and they offer one trip breakdown cover for about £16, with repatriation
of vehicle to UK up to market value.

Thanks for the reply
Apparently they only do it if you have insurance with them for your car already

As a bit more info for anyone reading this thread
The cover that was included with my old classic car insurance was great
My classic insurance was only £126 per year including this
My 1990 TVR 400SE broke down in Abbeville in France
I called the number and actually found I was talking to England (had dialled a France number)
It turned out the company who dealt with me were in Bingley West Yorks only 3 miles from my home!!
And I later met the guy I 1st spoke to, by chance, at my gym!!!
My car was picked up and taken to a French Garage who tried to fix the fault (Bosch fuel pump)
but after 2 hours thought it was more of an electrical fault that he couldn't cure
We were then taxied back to our hotel - as they couldn't immediately get us a hire car locally
Following morning they arranged another taxi to take us to the car hire depot
where we then took that car to Calais and left it there in the ferry compound
We couldn't use our existing Eurotunnel tickets as we couldn't take the car through
so they had already arranged foot passenger tickets on the Ferry
As we got on the first available ferry I got a call from the next car hire company in Dover
saying a car was waiting for me and they would pick me up when we docked
I then took that hire car home to West Yorkshire and dropped at my local depot the following day
who then ran me home
My car was repatriated 3 weeks later and delivered direct to my nominated garage who changed the pump
They were very particular about looking after the car well and on and off the transporters
I really couldn't fault the service!!!

That's pretty much the same description I've written on here when I broke down in Toulouse in my Tuscan. The cover that was included with my old classic car insurance was great

I was allowed to stay on my original itinery and so it still took 4 days to reach Calais.
Mine was with the ADAC.
Met two other couples on the ferry with breakdowns.
Both complained that they had been instructed to drive directly to Calais the same day and only a train waiting in Dover.
My friend who broke down in Venice continued his long holiday
As the hire car amount is limited, once that ran out (after about 10 days), he agreed to keep paying that part himself
and just kept on with his trip around europe
