Back in February we (6 people) booked and paid in full for flights from Birmingham to Goa with Qatar.

The flight has a connection in Doha.

Yesterday, we discover our return sector from Doha to Birmingham has been cancelled which means we will have to come home either two days early or one day later.

The one day later is a non starter due to finding accommodation and two of our party have to work.

What are our options do you think? I recall there being some mandatory EU compo for cancelled flights?

I don't think there are any alternative flights from BHX without hours of stopover and none of us really want to travel to Gatwick or Heathrow.

Don't airlines pi55 you off.

Perhaps I should have added that we don't travel until November

Was it a scheduled flight....just ask for a refund and book with a different airline?
Yes, scheduled flights.

All the other options mean LHR, LGW, etc., and long waits at alternative hubs. But not long enough to make it worth booking a hotel and making a night of it.

OK, but that doesn't affect whether or not it's covered by your travel insurance, does it?
Why would I need to claim on insurance? The airline just refunds the fare.

My initial question was asking about clarification on EU rules on airlines cancelling flights.

When are you due to fly? If it's more than two weeks away, no compensation is due.

Thanks.

November.

What a bummer.

Why don't airlines publish their schedule and stick to it!
