I'm off to a work do near Cirencester in a few weeks and I need to find somewhere to stay. I usually treat these trips as an excuse to find somewhere with a quiet pub where I can retreat to the bar with a pint and the latest copy of Evo. So ... can anyone recommend a hotel or a pub with rooms near Cirencester?

I'm on a pretty tight budget - say £80 a night - but I'm just after basic accommodation with a passable bar to chill out in the evening.

Already done it. The Waggon and Horses that you've screen grabbed there looked like a good candidate.

Just with this being PH I thought there'd inevitably be someone who lives nextdoor to the best pub in Gloucestershire or something to give a recommendation.

Unfortunately so. I tend to go by the rule of "if it's cheaper than a Travel Lodge I'll book somewhere more interesting" but basically looking to keep it as cheap as possible.

You'd be amazed some of the places I've stayed for £50 or £60 a night. There was a B&B down the road from Snetterton that I'd happily revisit on a family holiday and it was one of the cheapest rooms I've ever booked. Often preferably to a chain hotel.

Cheers gents.

Not actually booked yet (just meant I'd had a glance at the comparison sites) so will bear those in mind. I don't actually need to be in Cirencester itself, so the Red Lion looks like a good call.

Thanks for the recommendation, gents.

Stayed at the Red Lion on Monday night and it was superb. Good food and some of the best beer I've ever tasted. Wasn't until I stepped out of my room in the morning that I realised the brewery was on-site, about 20 yards away! That'll be why then...

Heartily recommended to anyone who stumbles across this thread looking for something similar.
