My son has moved to Australia and my wife and I are popping over there for 3 weeks in August.

Is skyscanner the best place to book flights or is it better to book direct with BA for instance.

We are intending to fly Economy as Premium is double the price and Economy is bound to be so much more interesting....

Any tips welcome.
Thanks

Australia in economy is not that bad, I've done it 10 times+ just be prepared, decent headphones + the adapter, and make sure you get a decent stopover to stretch your legs.

We normally fly with Singapore, wouldn't even consider flying with BA for long haul, you want either emirates, Singapore or Qatar, next level down is Malaysia or Cathay Pacific. Get the evening flight out, it goes much quicker, than the day flights when you're would normally be awake,

Get a stopover hotel, singapore and Malaysia have them airside, you can book in blocks of 6 hours and it makes a huge difference, quick sleep and a shower and the you are ready to go, normally costs around £60.

I'd ignore everyone above, I've done it both business and economy, business is a fantastic experience, but for two or yoi, it's gonna cost a minimum of 4K more, and personally I'd rather suck it up for the flight and spend that money when I get there.
I'm fairly open minded on carrier, Indeed have been to Singapore in the past. As a matter of interest, why would you choose Singapore Airlines etc over BA?

As a matter of interest, and thanks for all your advice chaps, I have booked with Singapore Airlines.

Flight times suited us best with 3 hour layovers. Longer would maybe have been better, but we are on a mission to see our son and daughter in law, lol.

!st leg from LHR to Sing is on a Boeing, with remaining 3 legs (sing >Syd and home is on the upper deck of a A380. Final leg we have booked extra legroom near the back.

Cost was £2731 which seemed OK for August.

Anyway, all done and thanks for your interest chaps. thumbup

It was an extra $75 (£61) per seat per leg for bulkhead seats which mounts up costs.
