We are planning a lads holiday towards the end of the year but not the usual for two reasons.

1) We want to go in November but it still needs to be relatively warm.

2) We are all late 30's\Early 40's so the usual getting pissed\drugged up on a Spanish\Greek Island and trying to shag fat northern birds is out.

We want a bit of sun and sand plus some interesting nightlife but of the slightly more classy affair than your usual clubbers paradise.

We considered Cuba for a bit but reviews are mixed, the hotels seem nice enough for the beach bits but reading the reviews on Havanna City hasn't exactly filled me with joy.

Someone else suggested Japan, Tokyo in particular but problems I can see is that Tokyo is very expensive, will be difficult to do the beach bit and I've read reports that when it comes to nightlife, foreigners aren't exactly welcome everywhere.

So any suggestions as to where to go for an older gentlemen's lad holiday in winter?

Yep Thailand is off the cards for the reasons mentioned, it's reputation definitely precedes it. wink

Vegas has already been done.

Dubai is another choice but feel it would be a bit too much like Vegas.

Latest update, a beach is not essential but the weather has to be decentish, don't want to be wondering around in the freezing cold or rain.

So Havana possibly not as bad as I've read so could be back on. No thoughts on Tokyo or other Far East destinations?

We want to spend the day either chilling by the beach\pool and taking in a few local sights\culture then the evenings eating decent food and yes getting pissed in nice bars in a manner befitting our age.

Some interesting local sights to see while we drink also wouldn't go amiss wink

Thanks for the suggestions so far. So after having a discussion with the lads the current favourites seem to be

Cuba
Miami
Malaysia were we could possibly do Kuala Lumpar and Singapore.

While the idea of Miami certainly has it's appeal, I'd like to visit somewhere a bit different that none of us have been to before so Cuba or Malaysia are winning out for me at the moment. We will be making a decision in the next few weeks and then looking for flights\accommodation.

Personally I would not do Kuala Lumpur and Singapore on the same trip, they are fairly similar just Singapore is very clean and the sin tax on alcohol is higher than Malaysia (never a good thing on a lads trip) you could do KL and Vietnam, Cambodia, Bali etc for about £30 with AirAsia. The bus ride from KL to Singapore is 4 hours and £10, after immigration checks etc you could of flown somewhere...
OK good to know, Bali or Vietnam could be interesting for a couple of days. Always places I've wanted to visit.
