We have just booked our third trip to Vegas for this coming April, on previous occasions we have never bothered with renting a car, but this time we would like to do the Hoover Dam / Lake Las Vegas etc. My question is - how difficult is it driving in this region? anyone done similar?

if so any suggestions where i could rent an 'interesting' car from?
thanks.

Went fine had a 300c nice enough car didn't go far this time just out to valley of fire and boulder for breakfast (coffee cup great food and much cheaper than strip)

Traffic was quiet most of the time got more busy closer to super bowl tho!

It's so easy to drive round just keep cool
Good to hear! Thanks for the response, need to book a car now smile

Why would you be sober enough in Vegas to drive a car?

Seriously though just use uber it's pretty much free. We walk as much as possible when we go because Vegas has an enormous number of weirdos to interact with and a very high density of bars. I have driven down the strip and in all honesty I was so focused on not hitting or being hit by any of the dick heads in hertz adrenaline corvettes that it was rather underwhelming, much better to walk the length with an Eiffel Tower of gin and tonic and chat to the other drunks.

I really enjoyed the drive out to the dam from the airport though. We went down to Chloride which was interesting... also tried to off-road in the mustang which was unwise. I quite enjoyed the road from Las Vegas lakes back to the 93, lakeshore road I think it was, you have to pay to use it but it seemed to be unpoliced and completely empty.

We have been a number of times in the past, but without bothering with a car, just fancy a day of the Hoover dam / lake Las Vegas.

$1300 for 24 hours in a 488 spider seems a cracking deal with unlimited miles!

Thanks for all your help guys, booked with Avis Mustang (or similar), collect from the airport and drop off at Aria, which is ideal as we are staying at Vdara.

hoping for a mustang and not a chrysler 200!!

Vdara rooms are great and nice and fast to get down from room unlike the aria
Vdara is great, no smoking / non-gaming, it's my favourite vegas hotel we have stayed at. Signature was ok but a long walk.

we are going back in August but to the cosmopolitan - partly as we got offered a rate we could not refuse!

Most of the rental companies have thousands of mustangs based there as everyone wants one so you're pretty safe I reckon. Enjoy the Vdara I really like it there. If going with others the cabanas at the pool are cheap and the service very good.
that's what i'm counting on!

the Vdara pool is great, not too busy / filled with too many drunk people, quite chilled for Vegas (well this was the case 2 yeasr ago!).

I just rented a mustang convertible in florida with avis, bloody loved it. Sign up for a preferred account if you haven't already, makes the process of picking it up a lot quicker.

Walking up to the parking space without knowing for sure what car to expect and seeing this was the best moment of my life, wanted to drive one since I went to florida as a kid! Giving the keys back was really really hard.

Have fun out there!
wow that looks awesome!..i would be happy with something similar! smile
