London with 5 & 7 year old?

Hi All -
Inset day tomorrow and a childcare error mean that i've got to take my kids up to work tomorrow.
Am hoping to do just an hour meeting and then do a couple of things out and about to make a day of it for them.
Based in Soho - little legs radius approx 1-2miles form there - had a look at the London eye but don't really fancy spending 85 quid - beside daughter is not great with heights....
What (free -ish) stuff is there in the capital? TBH - they'll probably be blown away with the concept of underground trains
