Stopover in Champagne region en route to Sancerre?

Hi there,

I'm planning a trip to Sancerre next month and thinking of spending a night in the Champagne region on the way down. Does anyone have any good suggestions - be it hotels, chateauxs or roads? Any help much appreciated.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think looking at those options Reims might be the best bet but Epernay also looks good. I'm even wondering if a b&b at one of the small growers/producers might be the best bet.
