Thailand: getting from Bangkok to Hua Hin

Hi folks

Next month my wife and I will be going to Hua Hin from Bangkok. I’ve ruled out hiring a car, also hotel shuttles which are a ridiculous £250 each way.

Latest thinking is a random company who will do it in a Corolla or similar for £50, or a train. Any advise?

Thank you for the excellent advice everyone! Thinking train for Bangkok downtown to HH then maybe a taxi or bus back to the airport.
