I know this is really random but I was wondering if there is anybody else who's noticed the same thing that I've noticed at 4 different branches of Sainsburys in London, big and small - City Road, Golders Green, Brompton Road and Cromwell Road.

If you buy 2 items on a deal, for instance today I went to get a Pepsi and they are doing 2 for £1.70 instead of £1.20 each and then swipe them through the self-checkout and then hit Pay Now it will come up offering you a payment method for a total cost of £2.40 (i.e. no discount applied). If you then hit back it will make the calculation and add the line into the invoice with the discount applied and therefore a -£0.70 line and you can then Pay Now for the right price.

Am I the only one that's seen this on products of all types or do Sainsburys get away with just charging extra and presumably most people don't even realise?

I appear not to be the only one. How come more of a big deal hasn't been made out of this?!

It does it every time. It only applies the discount after you have selected your payment type not before. Whilst I am sure some slip through the net none of them will show before you select your payment type.
Hmm interesting, so if I click Card then it will auto update to get the correct price? I'm inclined to go back now just to find out - maybe later in the afternoon. I don't think I've ever got that far because seeing the wrong amount on screen there always deters me.

Simple tip:

When the total comes up on screen (and you're sure the relevant discount hasn't been applied) press the 'Go Back' button and the hey potato the discount is there and the price goes down. If all else fails, shop at Waitrose.
You didn't read the first post very well did you
