Just came across this old Top Gear.

Surely the most vapid, up her own arse, irritating woman in the world?

Where is she now I wonder?

Not really any of yours or mine business is it.
She earns her own money, is my mates landlady, and then there's always daddys money if a little short. biggrin
Not sure "daddys money" is my definition of "doing well". smile

Of course it is. It may or may not be "doing well under one's own steam", but it's still doing well.
No its not, the "doing well" is being done for her.

Bit like a schoolgirl having her homework done for her by her parents and getting good grades as a result, is she really "doing well"?

I've always fancied TPT, I've never understood the hate for her.
It's not an appearance thing, its all the "ooh I'm so famous, everyone fancies me, silly giggle, ooh look Harvey Nicks, I spend a fortune on shoes you know, look here are some, they're my shoes, they were very expensive, ooh lets drive fast in London cos I'm too stupid to realise that simply putting my foot down in a fast car doesn't make me a good driver, silly giggle, did I mention that everyone fancies me, ooh look, I'm on the telly talking st and everyone loves me, listen to me me me I'm soo interesting, everyone must hear my opinion no matter how vacuous because I'm soo sexy, I've got A levels you know, I'm a very serious person, have you seen these shoes? I got them from Harvey Nicks, I went to rehab you know, I'm soo brave. Look, shoes!"

And, despite all of that, and the fact that she is built like a pair of smarties on an ironing board, i would still love the challenge of attempting to ruin her.

But she's doing very well as a result. She might not be forging her own way in the world, but regardless, she's doign very well. If you want to specifically define 'doing well' as 'working very hard for yourself and reaping the benefits you deserve', then no, she's not. But that's a completely arbitrary definition.
Disgree completely I'm afraid.

Imagine the London marathon, all the runners set off, and one gets into a car driven by daddy that drives past them all and deposits little darling on the finish line where she can run across the line with the winners.

You say "ooh, she is doing very well" and I say "no, Daddy gave her a flippin lift!"

Would you then say "oooh, that's just a specific definition of doing well, a completely arbitrary definition. Regardless of how she got there, she's doing very well in the marathon". biggrin
