Arguably off topic from the thread title in the Aston forum biglaugh
I think what I was trying to achieve was establishing another 'Social Link' by identifying fellow AM owners (and forum users) who may have served together in the past or in my case I could have served with their Dad.

Just something else that some of us might have in common and shared experiences.

What branch were you David? I started life off as a Seaman Operator in 87. Spent 3 yrs as a Gollie before joining Dartmouth. I won't list all of my ships but I was Flt Cdr in CUMBERLAND in 2006/7.
I was an RP and CHOPS(R) of Cumberland for her first commission in 90 - 92. I was EWO of Illustrious in 05 - 07. You should list your ships/Sqdns/Shore bases, thats the point. Someone might just say 'Bloody Hell' I was there then, do you know..........

Just been to my nephews wedding in Scotland. He is a SKW Observer with 849.

Cumberland has a Sk6 when I was on there and again on Chatham. Florry Ford was the FC with Andy Swarbrick.

Flew with Florry many times, top bloke.
He is officially Barking. (But an excellent run ashore)... I bumped in to him recently at Glasgow airport. He tried to get me to bin my flight to Southampton and go on the lash with him.

Do you know Rory Lynch (Ex MCT) and Kev Mathieson. Rory is living in the Caribbean and Kev runs a company called Helidecks who we use to train our yacht crews

I used to work for the MOD.

My first husband was one of the Hereford boys circa Iranian Embassy siege and Falklands.
Hi Molly,

One of my good friends was on 'Op Nimrod' who I am still in touch with. And of course John 'Mac' McAleese was until he died in 2011. I was based in Chicksands but used to pop over to 'H' and PATA twice a year. (April and November).

It's just that us RN folks are better with our money. Are you AAC? My good mate 'Big Bird' arranged a great photo shoot with my XKR and an Apache up at Middle Wallop. And my old friend 'Grant Meekie' (Wookie) is also AAC.

Well I was on the Edinburgh from 85 to 87, so if your old man was onboard then I could quite well know him, what branch was he?

Is this thread just for old sailors or can an ex RAF man join in?

BTW I have never owned an Aston but that hardly seems relevant on this thread. I did watch James Bond drive one tho. wink
The thread that I started is 'Ex Military/Still Serving Thread'. As much as it pains me to say it......."We can include the RAF'..... (Irrespective of which 5* hotel you spent your career in.....)
