Just got back from walking our dog in the fields across the way from where we live.

We normally go all the way down to the end of the field away from the main road however on the way back we saw a couple of dogs in the distance with no owner in sight. Once we reached the dogs it became aparent that they were tied together.

This alerted me that it may be some kind of trick so I didn't stop and walked away as fast as possible to the road. My first thought was that it could be some kind of trick to get me to stop and help the dogs whilst a gypsy jumps out the bush.

I looked back and the dogs managed to untangle themselves, they seemed to be happy (tails wagging) and eventually ran away.

I'm not sure whether to call RSPCA or the council to report a abandoned dog. I didn't stay close to them long enough to see if they wore a coller either.

I did, however see someone run away when i first saw the dogs in the distance thinking it was a jogger, but maybe they tied them up and ran off when they spotted us?

I'm still here, reading my OP again did make me chuckle. It was honestly the first thing I thought of when I saw them tied together.

A friend of mine had a chicken thrown at his car a while back as a trick. He stopped the car only to be forced to pay for the now dead chicken. I just didn't want a similar thing to happen to me.

I will be returning to the field after work again to walk the pup and will keep you all up to date on any suspicious activity.

The dog and I just got back and there weren't any gypsies about today.
