There's no great story of warmth and limitless sunshine around the corner, but as I'm sat outside in the sunshine with a beer cooking a spatch cocked chicken I thought I'd open the annual proceedings.

Incidentally, as I flew over the Thames Valley yesterday morning at some ungodly hour, there was a beautiful frost!

Got some bad news for you GTIR, I've done a few flights outside the EU recently and have a large stock of dark Havana Club thumbup

The signs are GOOD for a prolonged summery spell arriving in the latter part of next week. Not certain at this point, but looking very hopeful party

I want to buy my first bbq (only ever used disposable ones) what do people recommend, gas or charcoal? Thanks
Gas is vastly easier to use than charcoal, which is why the 'purists' pooh-pooh those of us that use it. On the flip side, you can spark it up and be cooking within a few minutes unlike the charcoal brigade who have to wait.

So the real BBQ fans use gas, so we can use it every evening wink

Things firming up for end of next week, but far from 100%. Lots of uncertainty and it may become a South only warm period with rain in northern parts.

Tried a Gas one, took forever to cook anything. Just didn't get on with it. Back to charcoal and much happier, I can properly burn stuff again now!
Yes, but it's cooked as opposed to seared and raw tongue out

There's nothing clever about this: tongue out

Enjoy the sunny/warm weekend. It's only short term and Sunday/Monday sees low pressure piling in from the NW.

Some hope for a return to nice weather after that, but very early days.

Much hotter tomorrow in the SE, and then it all breaks down.
Good chance of thunder throughout the week

It can rain all week if it likes just as long as it's clear again for bank holiday, planning a big bbq on Sunday so fingers crossed.
At the moment it's looking mild with a good chance of rain. Not awful, not like this weekend...

A pleasant weekend coming up, hitting the low 20s in the South. You'll all be able to mow the lawn and have a BBQ thumbup

Some tentative signs of more long term warm weather in June, but the Atlantic is up to its old tricks and wet periods is certainly looking the most likely outcome.

Fantastic day here (and the week so far actually). Top down to and from work, and out on the balcony enjoying a beer and the sun now. Only problem is the lack of sleep - midnight sun time and it's not so easy to shut the body down. Snow is slowly going too!
I'm in Arendal next week - I assume that's an awfully long way away from you?

Business - presenting at a conference. Got a nice 4 hour drive down from Gardermoen <sigh>

(no, I won't use Sandefjord or Kristiansand hehe)

Tentative signs of some serious heat moving up from the Continent in the form of a 'Spanish Plume' next weekend.

Danger is it looks likely to be muggy and thundery...
