Am I alone in having an absolute and total hatred of term 'reach out' in articles and blogs etc?

"...we reached out to xyz for comment.."

I want to find the author and punch them in the face whenever I read that.

One of my colleagues hates the word 'moist'. What makes you shudder when someone says it?

Phrases

"Make someone's skin crawl":

One of my other colleagues cringes visibly at the word 'panties' apparently.

I've got another one. I hate 'empower'. It doesn't actually mean anything.

Yes it does:

It's like listening to a bunch of old women moan reading this thread, they're just fking words.
They are, but you do feel the death of something inside when you send someone an e-mail and get back the reply "Wilco". "I'm on it", "Sure", "no problem, I'll get back to you" etc all fine and dandy. Wilco though...
Don't get me wrong, I'm as judgmental as most people on bad spelling, grammar and text speak. I just don't see it as a real priority in life's worries. Language evolves, some people are stupid, you can do fk all about it so why let it bother you?

Far more pressing things to concern myself with thumbup
Indeed. Has your pool fallen through the balcony floor yet? hehe

Human Resources, f-off what was wrong with Personnel Dept.
Wife has a two-faced condescending bh of a friend who works in HR, speaks in fluent HR-isms, generally thinks she's God's Gift to Business.

I go out of my way on introducing her to new people to say "works is Personnel" smile

Small victories.
'Human Resources' is such an unpleasant term, it's like they're referring to stockpiles of office supplies rather than people. 'Personnel' is a far nicer description in my opinion.
