14 years, what have you done?
Discussion
Amazing to see what posters can fit into 14 years, I started this thread based on another thread, but now I have thought about it, the millennium was a huge corner in my life, I was 29, had done time in the Army, was single and doing all sorts I should or shouldn't have been, had nothing to do with any of my family, I had fallen out of love with cars, I moved around the country on a whim.
Complete contrast to now really.

Well this thread makes me feel a lot better about my life - LOL!
I was 25 in 2000 and am (obviously) now 39 I really cant be arsed to list everything that I've done - but it seems that I have done a stload more than most on here - a trend that I aim to continue!

What an ungraceful thing to do, come onto a topic like this and announce your life is better than everyone else's!
If your life really was better, you wouldn't be on pistonheads - let alone this topic.
For what it's worth, the most impressive guy in my eyes could come on here and say;
- Found out I was adopted
- Did lots of drugs and abused alcohol
- Fixed my issues and learnt how to juggle chainsaws that were on fire whilst balancing a TV that remained tuned into channel 5...
Doesn't matter what cars you've owned or how many houses you've bought. You still die at the end so if life was an equation, posting in this topic that you've had a better life than others mean you're deducted 10 life points. And the range is -10 to 10. Back to GTa5.
I read it as, I'm 39 and still live with mummy, I also wk myself to sleep everynight, the only car I've driven is on an Xbox, mummy sometimes helps with the wking. If your life really was better, you wouldn't be on pistonheads - let alone this topic.

Honestly? Very little.
Studied Marine Engineering at Warsash, had a few crap cars, a couple of crap jobs.
Made a few new friends and been on some cracking holidays, spent a lot of time and money indulging hobbies and getting pissed.
I'll grow up one day I guess!

Left school
got a full time job
changed within the job to permanent night shifts at UK wide locations
got paid more than I could appreciate
bought loads of pointless expensive gadget
lost many expensive gadgets
became borderline alcoholic due to working nights and having no social life
left the job
went to college
met friends for life
had a few girlfriends but had commitment issues and general issues of boredom with some
met my future wife
got a new job
visited Disney World Orlando
buried family and friends
helped bring g/f out of the pit of depression she was in
buried in laws
picked g/f back out of another pit of depression
helped a random stranger that appeared to be having a heart attack until an ambulance arrived
passed my driving test
bought 3 cars
bought a house
travelled some more
got engaged
got married
had various operations
All of the above are pretty much cut n paste from everyone else.
But the most significant moment that sticks with me from the last 14 years was the day I got a phone call to say that I had been a match to a sick child that required a bone marrow transplant to help fight their illness.
the next month was a blur of test at various hospitals across South Wales and hours spent on phone calls to the specialist teams I would be helping out.
Then 3 days before my donation date I had another call. I still feel emotional to this day thinking about that call and them telling me that unfortunately the process of preparing them for donation, by taking them off all meds and treatment, had caused her to decline rapidly to the point there was nothing that could be done.
That is one of the few days that I can remember crying my eyes out. not because I had a "Hero Complex" I'd been accused of, but because someone along the line had told me that it was a little girl I was helping, and I knew the pain her parents must have gone through knowing there was a donor there for her, but that in the end she just wasn't strong enough to make it.
That day helped me realise how trivial some things in life are and that actually some times we do need to think fk it and do whatever we want!

Well done you though for trying to help her.
