Two out of three of my last haircuts have been st!

My local barbers employs approx. 4 barbers.

One of them appears to be st.

On the first occasion he cut my hair it looked as if someone had glued chocolate shreddies to my head.

Being British I didn't like to complain but vowed (to myself)never to go back there.

However, when the time came for my next cut I wandered past and noticed he wasn't there so went in. I had a great cut by one of the other staff. The difference was like chalk and cheese.

Couple of months passed and a cut was due again. I checked through the window and again he wasn't there. I assumed they'd got rid of him. But as I walked in through the door my heart sank when he appeared from behind a curtain and swiftly guided me to a seat. I was too embarrassed to refuse him.

I explained to him that I am trying to grow my hair out so just wanted it tidied up.

It was utter carnage.

It was as if he did the mirror opposite of what I asked him to do. I told him to leave the sideburns; he took them off. I told him to taper the back; he cut it square. I came out of there almost in tears and looking like Barney Rubble.

So there lies my predicament. It's time for another trim (to get rid of his handy work). They are my nearest Barber and they open late which fits in with my work.

Would it be reasonable to refuse him and insist on the other guy who knows how to cut hair? and how should I word it?

Is this a serious question?! Just point at the one you like and say you want that person to cut your hair. Jesus.
This.

While there don't forget to ask for permission to go to the toilet if you need to.
You see this where I struggle frown I hate offending anyone

This with fking big bells on.

OP - grow a pair and just ask for the guy who's not a useless twonk. No one will care.
Well I would say he would care when I refuse his invitation to a seat. He's very friendly and greets you with a handshake and everything.

I had this - at my barbers they have three staff, two of whom cut my hair (what's left of it) exactly how I like it - the other chap did a great job, but he interpreted my requirements, and the cut was never quite how I liked it. The next time I went and he was free, I just said 'I'd wait for Rob or Mike as they're more familiar with how my hair lies'. His reply?

'OK, no problem'. Next person took his chair and I waited for one of the other chairs to become free. He wasn't in the slightest bit offended - it happens very frequently.

Now when I go in and it's my turn when he's free, he just asks the next person after me, and I wait. No need to say anything anymore - if you're a regular, they know your preferences/usual - just like being in your local pub...
When you put it like that I do feel rather silly worrying about it.

Another suggestion, you could just man the f*** up?

At the very least, how is the kid going to improve if you sit there grinning like an idiot when he's hacking away at your head? If you're not happy about the finish, speak up or find somewhere else.

If someone washed your car with a Brillo pad would you just smile, pay them and drive away too?!

These sort of decisions really shouldn't be THAT hard Christ.
He's in his 30's I'd guess hehe

But no you're right; that is it! if he's in there I will decline his attention and ask if I can wait for the other barber! or at the very least I will not tip him this time and he should get the message! Bring it on.

Why do some people find it so difficult to just tell them straight that they would prefer to wait for a different person?
To not hurt the girls feelings. If she was rude or nasty then I'd tell her straight but the fact is she's just not very good at her job. I'd not want to hear someone come into my office and go "oh, it's you, I'll just wait until someone else comes in to answer my query."
This.

The fake phone call is a good idea!
