Basically, my 30th birthday is coming up and to be honest, while I love celebrating my partners birthday and getting nice gifts for my family and friends, personally I absolutely LOATHE the idea of being the centre of attention as well as feeling like I have to organise all my friends into one location to commemorate an event that to me, means no more than the day that preceded it.

I can't decide if I should slap myself on the face and stop being a miserable git or if I'm allowed to mark the day in a way I choose fitting...having a rarely permitted curry, kicking my feet up with a beer and watch something like Blackhawk down on extra loud with the surroundsound on.

Do you actually look forward to your 6 pack of black socks and a bottle of aftershave day?

With mine being on Sept 11th it has (since 2001) always felt a bit wrong to celebrate it. Not least because absolutely every media outlet and everywhere you look is filled with pictures commemorating the event.

I think the fact people generally have to arrange their own birthday plans means no one really gives a fk.
I'd be inclined to agree, however last year I didnt organise anything and I got nothing but ear ache from almost all my friends at the last minute asking why I'd not organised a piss up.

Make sure your helmet is well strapped in, mine lifted like crazy because they forced me to use theirs which was a couple of sizes too big for me.

Case and point that birthdays mean nothing, my mum just sent me a message saying happy birthday today.

...its tomorrow.

A thought just occured to me. This is perhaps the first year since it happened that I have seen nothing about it in the media, or on Facebook or the like. Not even in passing conversation.

I always try and get my birthday off work.
I think you're right too, I was waiting for someone to bring it up as they usually do on my birthday..but nobody did, it was actually quite nice! I guess part of the reason is they've nailed the guy responsible and that gave closure to it for alot of people.

Swerni: Guess that impression comes with having had the Z06, nobody in the UK wants to be in their 20's with one haha.
