Started in pub last night. One of the gang pissed, off with all the junk mail he gets, said the only chance to become anonymous again was to move house. So we got to wondering, with all the modern communication wonders, the internet, the government spying on you, ANPR, mobile phones and god knows what else, etc. etc., how hard would it be to move house without anyone being able to locate you in your new residence unless you wanted them to. Not easy we concluded.

That's dodgy, and not bullet proof by any means. You've got to basically sever ALL links to your past. And when you start to collate them, it's a big list. And I reckon a change of address to those that need them still leaves you old address recorded.

If you truly wanted to disappear, you would have to sever ALL links to your old life, no exceptions.
Exactly. And I wonder how many links to your old address are in a database somewhere?

But if it's your former address, you're no longer there. So how could someone find you from there?
If some finds a document with old and new address, you've been discovered
