Why?
Is it to show off your body and gain more 'likes'?
I don't understand why people do this, they must have really low self esteem and it's sad to see.
I don't have a bad body but I don't plaster it all on the net, and if I work out I don't take a selfie.

Facebook Status: 6 hours at the gym done! Proper SMASHED it!

Er ok? Well done you, here have a like.

Instagram photo of me half naked doing some bendy yoga pose.

Really ok. Yoga is surely for your own benefit, but here have a like anyway.

Am I the only one annoyed by this? biggrin

I just cringe whenever I see photos. Fair enough if it's to promote a business etc..

Just seems to be "normal" for people these days to take pictures of everything they do and everywhere they visit - we had guests the other week, and within minutes of arrival they were posting up an update of their visit.. Odd world we live in now.
It's a shame. You have to post photos and update statuses to show people that you are sociable.

I've put a couple on over the last 2 years after losing 6 stone, a couple showing me in the gym (somewhere that 2 years ago you wouldn't ever see me).

I only have friends on my FB and don't post this kind of stuff in the public domain so I don't see the problem?

Good luck to anybody that would rather show a picture of themseves in the gym, on a bike or doing a run as opposed to a picture of them sat on the sofa moaning about people who post pictures of the above.
This wasn't meant to offend anyone. Clearly you can do what you want and well done to you. I'm just stating facts that people can't just do something without putting it on Facebook/Instagram. I'm discovering more that it's mostly single people that do.

My wife always has to "check in" to places on FB, I rip the piss out of her and say that in actual fact no one really cares what you are doing or where you are; I asked her once what does she think when someone checks in to so and so place, she said it didn't really register and it is usually no where that interesting anyway, she couldn't answer when I asked, "then why should your friends care where you are at this precise moment in time?"

I don't have FB and I have having my photo taken.
Exactly!
My other half puts up jokes that he's seen and I cringe and laugh when he looks to see how many likes he gets wink

I had a little chuckle to my myself when I saw someone check in at their husbands funeral. That was very strange (but knowing the family, not surprising at all).

I find it all a bit ridiculous to be honest. Seeing people post selfies, literally everywhere they go. Why? I just don't get it. Solo selfie, group selfie, holiday selfie, driving selfie (yes seen those).

I just don't get it and to be honest, I think they look a bit silly. The problem is I'm in that age group, where all they seem to do is take bloody selfies.

I was out at the weekend for a friends birthday, suddenly these girls shout out "selfie!" and they're all crowding round the outstretched arm of one of them. It's fking bewildering, if you want a photo, ask someone to take it for you! It looks better that way doesn't it?

The ones where the person is by themself is even worse. They just end up looking like a posing tosser, desperate for some kind of validation or attention. "RANDOM SELFIE LOL" - How is it fking random? You've clearly done your hair, makeup, dressed up, found some good lighting, pulled a fking stupid face, took the photo, applied a filter and uploaded it. fk off sunshine, it isn't random.

Rant over.
Well this has made my day.

Food too. Gosh, you're eating, really? That's soo unusual, well done for letting us all know.

It's the MEMEME culture of little soldiers and pwincesses brought up by doting parents (desperate to be little Tyrone/Chlamidya's best fwend) to think they are the centre of the universe and everyone cares.
Yes! I used to be that girl! It's embarrassing isn't it? I think I am just growing up and Not giving a fk about what people think now.

I have step children.

I once took a photo of my bloated belly after I had a Chinese, and posted it onto Facebook.
Never had so many likes in my life. I felt so popular.

The 'no makeup selfie' was amazing.
"Omg you look so beaut with no makeup on, you should wear less all the time!"

No love, it's called a filter.

Maybe I should come off social media. I'm really not interested in what someone's 2 year old had for lunch.
The other day a work collegue asked if I deleted her off of Facebook and I said yes. She got really offended.

I only started this thread to ask if there were any people who have the same views as me. I agree, it's just pure vanity and people desperately trying to get people to say how good they look. Like I said, I used to be vain in my early 20's and I cringe at that now. smile
