WTF... is the whole country on holiday this week?

Everything I have tried to do has been scuppered by people being off / companies having staff off.

Main supplier at work away. Their own staff also off.
Our timber supplier stopped producing till Tuesday, no staff. No warning or notice.
Estate agent we are dealing with for a house purchase off, then their staff cant get hold of the vendors... they think they have gone away..
Another supplier at work off, delivery has slipped by a day as the guy left to do it forgot.

I know its a first world problem but come on this is just daft. It seems to get worse each year - we lose 2 weeks in May basically.

People yes, but now entire companies just seem to give up on bank holiday weeks.
