Been traveling several days, offshore Mexico to England, hardly a wink of sleep, been on shifts, changing time zones, long flight, 9 hours in Mexico airport.....

Last night hit the sack at 11pm, tossed and turned until gone 4, then woke up at 9 feeling like death. Tonight, in 2 hours time, I have to hit the road to London to fly again. I did hope to get my head down and knock out at least a few hours kip.....

So, I've laid here two hours already, in bed, brain is whizzing along a hundred miles an hour....

I hate people who can lay down and simply sleep like the dead, with no problem!

Just get on the plane and try to be asleep before take off. I always want to sit up and watch films, drink wine and eat, but the best way to travel is asleep. If you're that fried then it should be easy enough to pass out on the plane and disturb your neighbours with outlandish snoring.
I dream of sleeping peacefully on a plane, but I circle the planet every ten weeks and sleep about 20 minutes max at a time. Maybe I need yoga, or meditation?

And it's 01:45 and I'm up, eating pizza for breakfast, as alarm was set for 02:30 and I know I would have fallen in deep slumber about 02:20, just in time to fk me up completely......

Maybe a few cold ones in the Qatar airways lounge will allow me an hours kip, or an upgrade to Business class will help. I had two upgrades last month on Qatar. Now THAT is how I should be flying every time.

When I'm offshore I go through phases. Usually I sleep okay to start with, so tired from two days traveling, but halfway through the five week stint I start having whole nights tossing and turning.

Today I gave up sleep and left my dads house north of Birmingham at 2am, was parked in Europcar Heathrow yard by 5am. Rained like hell half the way so I barely broached 50mph for half the trip.

Now I'm sat in the lounge, waiting for three hours for my flight. I'd be in the Qatar premium lounge, but the bint who checked me in entered me as silver, not gold, so they won't let me in.

Yes, trying to focus on something nice and simple, stopping your head running around ideas like crazy, seems to work. Sometimes.

Anyway, I finally got home to the Philippines yesterday lunchtime, had a two hour nap in the afternoon, then finally hit the sack about 7pm and slept solid for eleven hours. Woke up today feeling bright and breezy and bushy-tailed.

Even on the planes rides, with a few wines and beers to help, I could only nap for 20 minutes before waking, so I reckon I'd had about 10 hours sleep max over the last week.

Maybe you're self employed in which case my post ends right here. If you travel so much and it's affecting you, can't you get the company to fly you business?
In my dreams mate, in my dreams.

The only reason the last trip was so messed up was because I detoured through England for a few days, or I'd have been home in 48 hours. It still takes a week to get over the 12 hours time difference between home and work though on a normal rotation.

I've barely settled in at home, been here a week, and they've sent us flight details to go back to Mexico a week on Sunday....frown
