Who says UK Nationals could not work in Germany if we opt out of the EU?
Nobody said that.

My point was whether those of us that actually live here would be sent packing. I can't imagine it myself but it kept me awake for nearly four minutes last night as it went through my head.

Will do. We've lived here since 1997 and all speak perfect German, (well, apart from the wife but she's nice to look at).

Keep us posted. As far as I am aware you have had to have lived in Germany for 8 years and can speak German. I have another 3 years to wait which means marraige would eb the only option if the UK does get a vote in 2017.

Well, all the bumf has arrived.

There's a list of documents that must be presented as follows:

Passport, Meldebescheinigung no older than 3 months, Birth certificate, Marriage certificate, last 3 months wage slips, last tax return, proof of the ability to speak the lingo, proof that you are aware of German laws via an Einbürgerungstest!

The fee is €255.

And there are 14 pages of info to fill out.

Heyho biggrin

I'm losing the will to do it, to be honest. I have everything they need, but, meh.

Is the Meldebescheinigung the Einwohnermeldebescheinigung? If so, you won't have one that recent unless you moved in the last three months, surely.
Sorry, only just seen this.

Yes it is, and if it's older than 3 months you need to go to the Amt and get a new one.

I'm actually thinking of phoning the nice Beamtin and making an appointment to go and see her. That way she will see that I am a powerfully built Director, speak perfect German, and have no need or desire to go on any stupid Einbürgerungs course or any other nonsense, and that I haven't just arrived in the back of an Eddie Stobart lorry surrounded by pallets of Stilton Cheese so that I can claim benefits for my three wives and 24 children. biggrin
