Can't have nice watches, hats, gloves or sunglasses.

One of the first things I bought myself (after a car of course) when I started working was a nice watch. We're going back to 1983 so the fact it cost a few hundred quid back then would suggest I had something on my wrist at the time would the equivalent of a watch that would skin me a four figured sum now. Within a year I had lost it.

I also lost a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses and expensive hats, gloves, scarfs and my wedding ring. Lesson learned I never bought myself anything nice ever again. I have a couple of okish Seiko watches (about £150 odds each) and a Casio G Shock I wear for demolition surveys, swimming and mountainbiking. One of the Seikos is missing at the moment (I think it's in the house somewhere or rather I hope it is).

Basically, I can't have nice stuff. Question is do the Rolex, Omega, Tag and Breitling watches you see hanging off the wrists of the wealthy go missing too and who else is like me and thinks "if this good watch doesn't show up it's Casios for me from now on" and are resigned to cheap and nasty for the rest of their lives?

On holiday. Took it off on a sun lounger by the hotel swimming pool so I didn't have a white stripe round my wrist. Went back up to my room and forgot about it. By the time I remembered it was gone

You'll be telling me people can keep good pens for years next. Have had the odd nice stainless steel Parker or Papermate for Xmas. Don't think I've managed to still have them by the beginning of March. Every hire car, courtesy car, pool car or works van I've ever driven has claimed a CD and pair of sunglasses at least. Am sure I've left stuff in a good few Travel Lodges, Premier Inns, Holiday Inns and various guest houses on my travels too.
Going back to pens. I write with whatever I can lay my hands on while out and about. I tend to have a pen at my first clients site which I'll leave there. I pinch one of the second client which I leave with the third and so goes the day.

I'm going to have to be blunt here.

Was having sex with my wife. For all the weird and wonderful positions of the Kamasutra it's nice to get back to a good old vigorous session of missionary sex with your hands clutching your wife's cheeks. We were in a hotel were the mattress was Germanic car-seat firm rather than French suspension soft. My poor wife's bum started to bruise painfully where my wedding ring was so I took it off. I must of missed the bedside cabinet and dropped it down the back or side. In the morning and we were off on our travels before I noticed it was missing. I phoned the hotel who said they'd have a look. No sign.
