I'm in a strange position.

I split with the missus last night. I started going out with her 11 years ago. We had a house, split before and she bought a flat. I spent all my money on crap and travelling. Good times.

I'm 29 years old. Good job contracting but don't have much to my name. Probably £7k.

I'm not sure if I am fortunate or not. I can do anything. Go anywhere, or rent a flat and carry on plodding along doing what I am doing.

Pretty gutted today but I think it was mutual from the pair of us.

What would you do? More travelling?

I've got until Saturday realistically as I'm sat in my old dears one bed bungalow until she returns.

Thanks for listening

Will your Mum let you stay there a while longer - a month/3?

You could do with some time 'out' to think & decide before coming to decisions
Just a 1 bed place unfortunately.

How log did you live with the other half in "her" flat? Does she own it? Did you pay your share of mortgage and bills?

Can you see where I'm going here? Positions reversed and the woman was back at her mum's house. These are the questions she'd be getting asked.
No thank you. Not interested.

Could you explain that sentence a bit more? I'm probably being thick, but can't quite work out what you're saying.
Owned a house
Split for a year
Sold house
She bought a flat
Got back together

Spoken with a director here and he knows the chief operating officer in our Sydney office.

They have a perm role for the job I do here, in Sydney. He said he would be more than happy to put forward a recommendation and speak to him if I was interested.

CV sent.

Update - Got my own place sorted Saturday. All the furniture, beds and associated toot needed went in on Sat. Sofa got delivered on Monday.

Its a 2 bed flat with en suite etc and I'm chuffed to bits with it. Not much happened with Australia so I'm going to bed down here for a bit.

Saw the ex on Saturday morning whilst getting my things and was all very amicable. 7 weeks in to my single holiday now hehe

Strange I read this thread as I am about to break it to the mrs that I no longer feel we should be together.

Not looking forward to it but for the best. I kind of envy the fact you had nothing to tie you down. I have a house, thankfully its mine and just mine but I havent the balls to just up and leave frown

Glad its working out for you
Good luck mate.

Everyone loves an update...

1 year on. I'm renting a nice new flat, I had some worries over Christmas where a contract ended in December and I had a squeaky bum period over a month as picking up work around that time isn't easy.

Found a new role in Borough, great pay but absolutely shocking work so found another placement in the city where I am now permanent. Quite amusing as it is next door to where I used to work.

Have a new girlfriend, we have been to Spain a few times and Paris. Off to Spain again in 3 weeks with her and Thailand is booked in December with a jaunt to Barbados in March.

Things are going swimmingly although very occasional contact from the ex as her phone bill is in my name which finishes up ironically on my 30th which is soon.

No regrets here.
