Things you got up to
Discussion
Following on from another thread, what stuff did you get up to as a kid?
We used to swap driveway gates around & once moved a rotary line of washing to a neighbours line 3-4 days down!
Always had a rule that we never caused any physical damage, beyond that we had a lot of scope! Moving a load of traffic cones & signs to block off the High St in our town at 2am was possibly pushing it to the limit though, the ahole Taxi driver who drove straight through the cones regretted it when one got stuck under his new Sierra Sapphire!

oh yeah, burning stuff, and trying to make stuff explode, was also a fun pastime in the right place. One of my mates had a huge back garden so we'd often go down there with the obligatory Lynx cans and lighters and matches and petrol from his dad's lawnmower, anything we could get our hands on. Someone also told us how to make flour explode if you threw it up in the air at the right moment.
Lynx can bazooka with old bits of drain pipe...
Going to show my age now, was always Brut 33 for us! I remember my mates Dad owned a shotgun & we used to nick cartridges, cut the caps off then build an incinerator from breeze blocks to chuck the caps on. Lynx can bazooka with old bits of drain pipe...
His Dad lived in a static home on a caravan park, I almost burned it down one day by pouring petrol from a 5ltr can directly onto an open flame & dropping the can when it all went badly wrong To make it worse, we poured water all over it!
We also used to buy bangers & make impromptu bazookas out of anything pipe shaped, got chased for about a mile one night after doing it outside of a fairground workers caravan - not a bright idea.
How the hell are we still alive?!!

Knock on ginger was only fun in a block of council flats where you started at the top & worked your way down, we used to do the bottom ones just as somebody started at the top though...
We also turned the gas & electric off at the meters, they boxed them in after that! Somebody did the same to me years later, karma, made me chuckle!

The current generation don't know what danger is.
I was derided on another thread for not having a safety net on my kids trampoline - hardly any wonder kids don't know! Mine are both sensible but adventurous (when I'm watching anyway!), but I would go nuts if they did half what I did at their age!

there are LOTS of other ones that i'm not so light-hearted about that are a little dark in retrospect, but funny at the time...
That's the thing isn't it, in hindsight some of it was either bloody dangerous or thoroughly thoughtless & ignorant. Some funny stories though, surprising how many are quite similar despite age range & geographical locations - keep 'em coming
