The story so far, sitting at home today i hear a funny noise like a stone being kicked down the road.

I walk into the lounge thinking some crap might have fallen down the chimney, nope nothing, i'll just have a quick look outside.

Car is fine but looked over to my van.. grr lots of mud and crap has come out of the guttering onto the bonnet -

Hmm hang on theres a few tiles there... bugger its put a nice few dents in the bonnet!

Neighbour came out and explained how she heard a big bang and noticed something flying past. Talked for a bit and i said its a few tiles but they have put some nice dents in the bonnet.

Walk up the drive to see what the roof looks like, ay up....

F**k me i was lucky with a few dents on the bonnet. House tiles dont look so good...

Go to get on the phone to house insurance and notice this!

Bloody wind...

True it could be worse. You can see my little boys car seat in the front....

Just the pain of sorting the insurance out for the roof, John Lewis can't get anyone out until Wednesday
Next week so we have to pay for a temp repair which if they agree storm damage we get back.

Van will be written off so it next week before they can assess it, probably offer me nothing for it then find a new one.
Cambelt went late last year so the engine is as good as new....

Does anyone know how it works if I want to keep it? They write it off, pay me a sum, can I offer to buy it back?
I know it will be classed etc but I planned on running it to the ground.

Maybe I get one of those pop up bed roofs...idea

Written off? Those vans are worth a bloody fortune!
Quite confident it will be.

Repair bonnet is no problem how would you repar the roof?
A couple of dents further along the roof.

House insurance just said its my car insurance I need to speak to, I thought it was worth the question.

I could live with the dent if I can get it semi flat, so I would get an agreed price say £7-8k then I would get chance to buy it back out of the payout? I'm not sure if it would just go to salvage, a shame as it's quite a straight van, colour coded, racking perfect for my job etc.

£800 worth of excess for both anyway frown

I like the idea of a pop top but it's wasted as the back is full of ladder and boxes most of the time.

My body shop said it should be repairable with a new roof skin then it needs some paint on bonnet, bumper and one side.
It had new rear doors and bumper late last year because a mini drove into the back of it.

Just needs the sides doing then all will be as new...

I don't think it will be a cheap fix so will see what the insurance assessor says next week.

Yep, cambelt went £1500ish to repair, got it back and this happened, all through insurance
Around £1600 of damage, luckily didn't cost me anything, new rear doors, bumper etc

Lucky van....

Still it's a workhorse but I still try to keep it tidy looking when turning up for jobs.

Im just going by what insurance told me, it won't effect any no claims and no premium increase as she admitted her fault and it was rear ended.

It was all looked after hertz accident management and I had a new van on the drive a few hours later.

10+ years protected no claims at the moment and reading my terms it says premiums won't be effected unless more than 3 claims over 2 years.

I guess I will find out about this renewal time.
