It will be short lived, hence the arrows from the South. This is not a prelude to a long sunny spell, but the outlook for April is good.

The high pressure that's been around since autumn looks to anchor itself west of Ireland, this results in a southerly wind for us. So dry and cool is the likely scenario.

Sods law says this high pressure will bugger off for summer time...

Next Wednesday (3rd May) is the day to keep an eye on. Warm air likely to be dragged up from the South.

The good news is that the cool weather moves away in time for the bank holiday weekend.

The bad news is it's a bank holiday weekend, so low pressure arrives in time for Monday - you couldn't make it up.

Most of UK will see a fine, but not warm, Sat/Sun, although NW extremities could see wind and rain.

Monday will see periods of rain for most.

Changes afoot? Warmer and unstable air expected for the weekend. Warmth and rain to come, thunder chances increasing.

Don't get too excited - temps turning more normal.

Looks like a brief Spanish plume mid week next week. Not very strong and likely to stop short of the M62. Temps to mid 20s.

Where? Its been bloody freezing east of London.

I've had enough and am going to spain next week
Anywhere East coast has been cold this week thanks to the wind off the North Sea - western areas have been delightful.

Berkshire, where I live in the middle, has moved from warm to cold to warm day by day frown

Already had to water the garden for the last month or so down south. The bigger climbing plants were dying.

Could be some good rainfall up North next week. Low odds down south except for thunder - which is the wrong sort of rain for replenishing supplies.

More rain to fall on the NW facing hills (Scotland, England and Wales) in the next 24 hours than has fallen combined over the last 6 weeks.

Wednesday sees warm air sucked up from Spain/France - heavy rain and thunderstorms for the SE.

Low pressure around for the next week...
