Thought about this recently, not out of self pity or sadness, more amazement about how dramatically life can change.

For a variety of reasons, and no doubt I am partly the cause, my stats are:

Wedding in Aug 2005
Day guests - 90
Evening quests - 50

Remain in touch with:
My daughter (now 19)
My sister
My closest friend
For now, my soon-to-be ex

This just occurred to me recently as I drove past the wedding venue.

Had quite a small wedding 25 years ago and probably not in touch with many of them now.

Depressing start to a sunny Saturday morning. frown
Sorry, wasn’t meant to be! Just a reflection, for me, of how life has different phases (I do have quite a few new people around).

Well it wasn’t intended to be a depressing thread, but you’re the second poster to make that point so that’s obviously how it’s worked out!

Personally,, I feel really aligned to the philosophy that life is about letting go.

It’s not that I feel I have lost anything, more that it’s just amazing how much things have shifted in 19 years.

As long as my kids want to be in my life (they do), that’s a win.

What I find remarkable is the extreme churn in social circles.

Maybe it’s just me :-)

I got married in 2004 and there were about 100 people there. Out of all the people who were there, the following are the only people I have seen in the last ten years or so.

Ex wife
My parents
My brother and his wife

I see my two uncles (Mother's brothers) and one auntie maybe once every couple of years.

I would say maybe ten are dead and I am not in contact with a single friend or work colleague who I knew at the time. Out of my actual relations, I haven't seen a single relation on my fathers side in ten plus years, seeing them will be a once in a decade occurrence.

Weird how you just lose touch with people who used to be a major part of your life without you realising it is even happening.

Oh well, what a waste of money buying them all dinner that day was!
You are clearly my spirit animal :-)

2006.

None.

We gave a fiver each to two Sainsbury's checkout staff to be witnesses.

Never seen them since.

We're still happily married. :0)
