My best mate starting working for one of the big ones about 18 months ago. I'm sure he's getting along fine. We haven't spoken since.

Well nearly not. He spends every working week up north somewhere. Says he finishes work at nine most nights. The won't pay for his overnight accommodation on the Sunday night or the Friday night so he has to drive up early Monday morning and come back Friday night in his own time. From what he's saying I guess he's doing a 70 hour week almost every week.

Only I'm not sure to believe it. I mean I'd tell them to get fked if it were me. 70 hour weeks, no personal time in a crappy hotel miles from friends and family. His boss is apparently an arse so no fun there either.

Is this for real. Do people really do this? Do these companies really demand this over a long term or is he either:

a/ a sop?

b/ a liar?

But he doesn't earn 'amazing' money. It's good but not amazing. His hourly rate must suck.

Prospects must be good though? What about bonuses etc?
He says he doesn't really know but anything up to 30% of salary. Also says he's not in it for the long run. Even less point in squandering his youth then.

That's not that unusual at all. Regularly had to work 70+ hours a week and fit in 5-600 miles of driving. I don't miss it. At all. You get used to living on 4 hours sleep. You don't see many in their 30-40s doing it. Divorce rate is high, stress rates very high...
Thats the one. It's not going to make him his fortune either.

Unfortunately it's not bull. It seems my best mate is an Internet stalker but I knew that already.

I'm not going to have this out over the Internet but...

1. I told you if you continued to do all your communications through that unspeakable site I wouldn't answer. Whats wrong with a simple email?

2. You lie about me visiting you only once. It's at least twice.

3. I quote from a message you sent me earlier this year over that unspeakable site - it was Jan 7th and we hadn't met since before xmas "Olf - Haven't seen you for ages but unfortunately I'm stuck on the northern run again i.e. late Fridays so Fridays are no good. Have eEVERY saturday until march booked up which only leaves sundays. ONLY sunday I can do is the 3rd feb. Can you come to mine?".

Got to be honest mate, when I read on Jan 7th that you only have one afternoon in the next 3 months in which to see me I kind of think I can't be too high on the priority list.

4. I'm ignoring everyone else so don't feel special. It's just how it is at the moment.

5. Lets continue this eleswhere. It's only fair I get to relay my side of the story hence this reply.

6. Stop stalking me you freakshow.

7. You're a sop.

Laugh? I nearly did! wink

Actually pissing myself here. Haven't heard from my mate offline so he's clearly had a menstrual breakdown.

Anyway - I've got the full gig on this guy so he needs to be careful. He wouldn't want you to hear about the HORSES...

As far as I am concerned Olf does this all the time.
He even dresses as little red riding hood to drive down to the supermarket.

When he gets home he slips into his tree costume (the one with the bks out out so he can also dress his c0ck as a squirrel which seems like it is coming out of the tree)
Then off up to bed where he can only perform if his wife dresses up as a goblin and spanks him with her uniqe war axe until his cowardly-lion (form the wizard of oz) outfit is cut to ribbons.

I see no other alternative

Somethings telling em you're enjoying this...

My apologies Mr Tumnus, but yes I am experiencing Shadenfreude at its most potent.
Please don't take offense, it would be the same if this happened to absolutely anyone.
I am so happy.

Hope it works out alright with your mate, could happen to any of us
s'ok. I'll make a skin suit out of your nearest and dearest at some point in the future wink

As for my friend. He is my best man and god-father to my daughter so sounds like we ned to go to relate to get back on an even keel because he's a very important chap. He just needs a good kicking which I may just make a special trip up north to deliver.

Will you be wearing a furry suit to deliver said kicking?
It would add insult to injury. Good plan, I'll see what I have in my 'special wardrobe'.
