The last words spoken from the moon were "As we leave the Moon at Taurus-Littrow, we leave as we came, and, God willing, we shall return, with peace and hope for all mankind." - Eugene Cernan

If you're standing at the bottom of the earth, the south pole then walk 280 yards north (lets call this Point A), when you begin to walk West you'll be walking in a circle for one mile before returning to point A. Then all you need to do is walk 280 yards South to get back to where you started!

woohoo
Yes but that is NOT what the quote said:

"Contrary to popular belief, there are an infinite number of places on earth where you can walk South one mile, then West one mile, then North one mile , and end up exactly where you started."

You can't just go randomly changing which direction you do first!!!
Davi, start anywhere 1 mile, 280 yards away from the SP. This will always be exactly 1 mile, 280 yards NORTH of the SP. Walk one mile South. Plant a flag. You are now 280 yards away from the SP. Walk one mile E or W (doesn't matter which). You will be circling around the SP and will end up one mile later back at your flag because the world is round. Then retrace your footsteps N to where you started. FFS I thought this was turning into another conveyor belt for a minute.
So does that mean that the cicrcumference of the world 280 yards north of the south pole is exactly 1 mile?

If you stretch your arms out full stretch and the tip of one finger is the big bang. If you then used a nail file and run it over the furthest fingers nail.

You'd have wiped out the time Human kind has been on Earth.
I like that one.
