I agree. People seem to have this vision of me being really upset about it.
I am really not. I am just making the point that there is nothing funny about a picture of a hand and face. Not even the first time.
Hilariously, people think it will somehow annoy me if they respond to this by posting lots of the said picture.
It doesn't annoy me, it simply makes my point. Each person who eagerly does it will give themselves a big pat on the back and perhaps do it again.
After a while they will realise that noone ackowledges thier posts and that it is pretty pointless.
Anyway- the simple fact of the matter is, that however much the comedians derise this thread, I guarantee for a fact that it will help hasten the demise of the facepalm meme.

Being so old, until it is explained to me, I don't really understand why people are doing it so I dont even know if it is funny or not.
THe likely answer is that the first one is mildly amusing and each subsequent one less and less so, yet noone realises that it is no longer funny and keep doing it until I have to start a thread about pancakes or waffles.
I am not sure why that is my gut feeling, but I am usually right.

Intelligent people will not rise to the bait, as it's seen as an easy option and the idiots will soon realised their comments are being ignored.

I actually agree with that on the whole although not entirely correct about this thread being the wrong way to go about it.
SOmething that I have noticed, though, is that these threads of mine follow a very predictable pattern which goes as follows:

1) Tedious meme gets overused
2)BSR does one of these threads
3)All the people who use it suddenly cringe and think to themselves 'actually it is a bit tttish posting the same unfunny thing over and over and over again
4)They try to cover up this embarrassment by defiantly and utterly hilariously posting on the thread in question, the thing that isn't funny
5) The thread dies away, but most importantly, it makes the sheep actually think before they post it again.

You would be forgiven for assuming that #5 is incorrect, but you would be mistaken.
It actually works a treat in my unscientific, self centred, egocentrical opinion.

THis is a new and exciting argument. So to you, it is worthwhile because pictures are a better form of communication than words?
SO in general do you veer towards hieroglyphics to communicate, or do you use simple pictures of cats and dogs like a nursery school child?
Do you think that schools should not bother teaching writing, but instead show the children more and more pictures until they have momorised a picture ofr every word?
