Hi

Any correlation between Cheese and heart disease? Or if my weight and colestreal are good is it okay to munch cheddar?

(better half worried about my cheese consumption maybe 4-500g per week)

Physically active
53 yrs
5' 10"
12 stone 2 lb
34" waist
Colestral 1.somthing (nurse says plenty of good colestral but I can't remember the exact figure)

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm makes me think. I've been an insulin dependant diabetic (well controlled) for the last 30 yrs. grumpy

I had to change my diet or liftstyle to sort that out. All I did was quit cheese completely and my cholesterol dropped to 4.0 in a week. Funny, I don't miss it at all, but have cheesy option stuff at parties, in a burger etc.

I was about 80Kg @ 5'11 and going to the gym 3 times a week, playing badmindton once a week, biking and walking miles...

Get your blood cholesterol taken at your local GP. The nurse does it and it takes 2 minutes.

btw, all cheeses that I have ever seen have high sat fats, even the low fat health options, except 1 - try Laughing Cow extra light cheese spread. It has about 1.7g sat fat per 100g. But while it tastes cheesey, don't kid yourself, it's nothing compared to a mature cheddar.
Cholesterol about 1.5 (I'm told plenty of good though) I do take statins
