As my last foray in to the world of P90X attracted some interest round these parts I thought I'd give P90X3 a shout. It's ordered and I start as soon as it arrives!

I love P90X and got some really great results, the best simply being that I'm fitter than I've ever been. I've run through it 3 times and mixed it all up but was getting a bit samey and to be honest, finding an hour a day (1.5hours for Yoga X!!), 6 days a week is blinking difficult.

I was going to go for P90X2 but the 3 series uses only 30min routines.

I'll keep you posted for those interested.

Oooh, this is good!

Very intense, some of the routines more so than others. Half hour they may be but you're sweating like a 70's BBC presenter at the sound of the door bell within 10 mins!

I'd forgotten I'd posted this! Top bump!

Well, I've gone through P90X3 twice now. The first run through got me from 14.5st to 13st and from a 36" to a 34" waist to what is now 12.5st and 32" (I'm 48 and 5'11"). I've regained a lot of the definition I had in my 20s and upper body is probably the best it's ever been,

Forget the numbers though, what's impressive is just how fit I feel.

Is it better than P90X? No. That's still the the king as far as I'm concerned as you do feel like you are working it more but this needs to offset against the need to find an hour a day or more, 6 days a week for three months.

To get the most out of X3 you really to do have go max for the whole 30 mins.

But it is good and I'd highly recommend it.

I'm now mixing both so on the days I have the time, I'll do the full P90X work out and others, I'll do the X3 version.

I just like Tony Horton as well and if you've not done so already, I'd subscribe to his You Tube channel as there's some good stuff that he covers.

Initially, I used the bands but moved to weights and found them more effective. Nothing fancy - just a couple of sets of those cheap screw bars things so you can have the right weights ready to go. The only thing I use the bands for now is for pull ups as we've nowhere in the house really suitable to fit the door bar thing.

The other thing I forgot to mention is that X3 seems to be less dependant on the nutrition guide and simply eating well is good enough. With P90X, by the time you got to the third phase you really need to fuel right or you just run out of steam. I recall someone here mentioning that the Plyometrics routine burns something like 1,600 calories!!
